HTC Flyer finally out in the US – no stylus though

The HTC Flyer is out! The 7-inch Android running tablet is coming out this sunday at Best Buy stores in the USA.
After announcing pre-orders in the last few weeks, Best Buy finally set the official release date to May 22.

The tablet will powered by a single-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm processor and run Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the HTC Sense interface overlayed on top. Hopefully an update to Android 3.0 or better 3.1 Honeycomb should be available soon. The Flyer features 16 GB of memory and has a front 1.3 megapixel camera and a rear 5 megapixel camera.

The HTC Flyer tablet features 802.11n Wi-Fi for Internet but not 3G or 4G connectivity, the Best Buy version that is. If you need 3G or 4G, you should probably wait for your mobile network version of the tablet.

Another feature that the Flyer could be missing is the stylus. The stylus allows more accurate note taking and drawings, it seems to be available as an option for an extra $80. The HTC Flyer itself will cost $499.

Note that the European version does come with the stylus but also retails for much more, £599.99 ($960) in UK and 499 Euros (USD $710) for the rest of Europe.
