Sharp delivering world first clamshell Android – Aquos Phone Hybrid 007-SH

Everthought of going back to the good old clamshell phone type? In 2011? on Android? Is this a joke?
I guess not, Sharp just unveiled the world first clamshell phone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread – the Aquos Phone Hybrid 007SH.

As crazy as the concept is, this phone actually has some good stuff in it. The Aquos Phone Hybrid 007-SH features a 3.4-inch touchscreen that can swivel so that the display faces outside when closed. This handset is also completely waterproof, so you have no more excuses of ruining your phone if it falls into the water. In addition to the touchscreen, the phone has a full dialpad and directional pad.

The Aquos Phone Hybrid 007-SH will run on a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Like new devices such as HTC Evo 3D, Sharp Aquos SH-12C 3D and LG G-Slate tablet, the Aquos Phone Hybrid 007-SH will be a 3D glasses free phone.

Best of all, you can capture your precious moments with the powerful 16 megapixel and record in 720p recording mode. After that, just connect it to your TV via infrared, micro HDMI or even Blu-ray connection. This handset also comes with a digital TV tuner, and can act as your e-wallet, though not using NFC but through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and FeliCa.

The Aquos Phone Hybrid 007-SH will be available in Japan on SoftBank. Sharp is attempting to plan a worldwide launch in the future. I guess it all depends on how well it does first in the Japanese market.
