OUYA Android based console developer kit is on its way.

Ouya the Android based game console is working hard on testing its console box with the latest Android OS available – Jelly Bean 4.1. The company which got a big boost in funds thanks to Kickstarter is preparing to release its first developer kit in December as planned.

The Ouya console will be powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It’s strong points? It’s price. With a price tag of $99 and a collection of free games, the Ouya console is there to shake things up in the console world. Besides, since it’s an open platform, Ouya leaves it open for any small or big independent developer to create games for the Ouya console.

Eventhought Android 4.2 Jelly Bean just got released 2 days ago, Ouya management is really keen on bringing the latest Android version to their console. Hopefully, they’ll be able to integrate it before their release date in December, otherwise they will have to update it after their release.
Regardless, the Ouya console will probably benefit from regular updates as new version of Android become available. The Ouya console should be available in 2013.
