Is the Samsung Galaxy S3 really the best Android smartphone out there? For the moment it seems so, but preliminary news about the Vega S5 from Pantech shows that in the high tech world, keeping that title is not easy.
The Pantech Vega S5 is a big phone with a 5-inch IPS HD LCD touchscreen powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor with 16GB of internal storage. It will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a tweaked user interface by Pantech.
What sets the Vega S5 apart from the competition is that despite it’s huge screen, it is extremely thin with only 6.89 mm.
On top of that, add a 13 megapixel camera with no shutter lag and with a tracking focus function that lets you capture a moving target. The Vega S5 comes with 4G LTE connectivity and thanks to it’s 2100 mAh internal battery let’s you talk for up to 11 hours.
At this time, that’s all we know about the Pantech Vega S5, which is quite impressive. With specs like this, it surely would stir up the competition, in Korea only thought.
The Pantech Vega S5 is exclusive to SK Telecom in Korea with no sign of being available outside of Korea. That is unfortunate as the Vega S5 seems to be quite an impressive phone. In the meantime the S5 should be available in two colors only white or black for the price of 900,000 Won (USD $800) with a release date to be determined.
