Upcoming Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 versus Ipad 2

Samsung is due to launch this Spring the next generation of its popular Galaxy Tab. The new Galaxy Tab 10.1 will run Android Honeycomb 3.0 operating system designed specifically for tablets and uses a 1GHz dual-core processor with 16GB of storage space and 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM.

Unlike its predecessor, this new tablet version will have a bigger 10.1 inch display as opposed to 7 inch but will be thinner at 10.9 millimeter. As a result, it will gain some weight, from 380 grams to 599 grams in part due to new features such as its two cameras – a 2megapixel front-facing camera and an 8megapixel rear-facing. The device will support 4G connectivity, HSPA+ 21Mbps connectivity and will come with dual surround-sound speakers and HD video recorder.

The Galaxy Tab will be able to handle video conferencing via its dual webcams, make HD videos, use all of the Google standard features and run Adobe Flash Player as opposed to Apple’s Ipad.

The previous version of the Galaxy Tab 7, found 2 million users last year. Samsung is hoping this new iteration of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be even more successfull. Problem is pricing of this new tablet is quite high; no official pricing has been released yet, but speculations are that it will sell around 700-800$ whereas Apple’s Ipad 2 can be purchased for as low as $499 for the 16 GB model.

According to Lee Don-joo, executive vice president of Samsungā€™s mobile division, ā€œWe (Samsung) will have to improve the parts that are inadequateā€ he stated after seeing Apple’s Ipad 2. The new Apple Ipad 2 is lighter and thinner than Samsungā€™s new Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Publicity stunt? or honest review of its own product? Samsung officials immediately claimed the superiority of its newest tablet running a fresh new Android OS – Honeycomb. Nevertheless, Apple’s Ipad 2 is an amazing tablet and figure sales can speak for themselves after selling half a million tablets in 2 days. But upcoming Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a real serious contender to grab some market share, just have a look at the video below, hard not to be impressed.
