Acer Iconia Tablet A500 Android 3.1 Honeycomb rolling out globally except for India

Acer is rolling out the Android 3.1 Honeycomb update for the Acer Iconia Tab A500 globally from Germany to Australia. You can check for your update by going to settings -> About -> Software Update.

India is among the few countries who are not going to get the update yet. Acer is claiming that the lack of support from local telecom operators have postponed to August the OTA release of the Android 3.1 Honeycomb upgrade.

The official update to the Iconia Acer Tab A500 is 1.41.07 and users should slowly see the update appearing on their device based on serial number.

The Iconia tablet is a 10-inch tablet originally running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The current update should improve better support for hardware graphics acceleration, Bluetooth support for keyboard and mouse as well as resizeable home screen widgets.

The next big update after this one will be the Ice Cream Sandwich update that should resolve fragmentation issues and reunite smartphone and tablet Android OS.
