Amazon Android tablet to be cheaper than Apple’s Ipad 2

More details regarding the Amazon tablet are available now. It is reported that Amazon is preparing to launch two Android tablets by the end of the year.

The first tablet, is a 7-inch Android tablet codenamed Coyote. The Amazon Coyote should retail at $349. The processor for this tablet will be a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.

The other tablet will be a 10-inch Android tablet codenamed Hollywood. The Amazon Hollywood tablet should cost $449. The processor for this tablet should be the new quad-core Nvidia Kal-El processor. This will make it the most powerful Android tablet on the market.

No details for the moment regarding the Android OS version is available for the moment. We can safely speculate that they will at least run Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

The introduction of Amazon tablets complements Amazon’s strategic Android move. Amazon is already very well established in terms of E-books readers with the Kindle. Add the introduction of the Amazon Appstore earlier this year and the new regulations from AT&T regarding Apps from outside of the Android Market, and you’ve got a winner. Amazon have everything in place to be a successful in the Android world.
Especially if these prices are true. Amazon could become a very serious contender in grabbing some market shares from Apple’s Ipad.

These Amazon Android tablets price are very competitive, not only within other Android tablets such as the newly released HTC Flyer ($499) but the Motorola Xoom ($599) and Apple’s cheapest version of the Ipad 2 ($499).
