Viewsonic launch 7-inch affordable tablet – ViewBook 730

Viewsonic is preparing to launch a new budget tablet by the end of the month. Dubbed the ViewBook 730, this 7-inch tablet features a stylus for note taking and drawing, a bit like the HTC Flyer.

Powered by a 1GHz Processor, the ViewBook 730 will have 8GB of storage with extra storage up to 32GB via microSD slot. The ViewBook 730 will have various connection ports, such as mini-USB port and mini HDMI port. It will also have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Note that Wi-Fi Wireless-N is not available, but Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g are available.
The Viewsonic model will include AirSync technology, allowing it to get updates OTA (over-the-air) as they become available. That feature will definitely make life a lot easier.
In addition to all this, the ViewBook 730 features a front webcam, and the battery life of this tablet is expected to last from 8 to 10 hours on a single charge.

Software wise, unlike the ViewPad 7x from Viewsonic, this tablet is expected to run Android 2.2 Froyo.
The ViewBook 730 comes pre-installed with a variety of Amazon products, keeping its price low. Among pre-loaded softwares you’ll find Amazon’s Kindle e-reader, Amazon’s MP3 downloader, Twitter and YouTube.

The ViewSonic ViewBook 730 will ship with Amazon Appstore pre-loaded as well. It does not look like you’ll be able to access the Android Market directly from the tablet.
Aside from that, the ViewBook will support Adobe Flash Player 10.1.

The ViewBook 730 is expected to retail at $249 and to debut in late June. That’s much cheaper than most fancier tablets such as Samsung’s 7-inch Galaxy Tab or RIM’s PlayBook. But they say that you get what you pay for. On paper, this Viewsonic is not so bad, but we’ll see when we get one.
