LG Optimus 2X is finally getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

LG has finally started rolling out an update to the world first dual-core smartphone, the LG Optimus 2X. That was its title then, in 2011, and after different sources stating that the LG Optimus 2X or P999 was going to get an Ice Cream Sandwich update, well, its happening.

But, yes unfortunately there is a but, this update is only available in Korea and in Europe. And, on top of that, the update is good for all unlocked versions of the device. That’s a lot of but and other conditions…
That’s right, if you own a carrier locked Optimus 2X, well, you might as well still wait for your update, and that’s if there’ll be one. For now, only unlocked versions can get the Ice Cream Sandwich update.
The update will not happen OTA (Over the air) but rather manually by accessing LG’s website. So if after all these conditions you’re eligible, hurry and go ahead, update your Optimus 2X.

It’s to bad that the update took so long, after all the LG Optimus 2X was meant to be a great flagship device for LG with amazing specs at the time of its release. To bad it never really took off. I just hope for the sake of the users who waited patiently for this phone that they do get their update, as it will bring a new refreshing experience for a good phone nonetheless.
