Ice Cream Sandwich now available for Verizon’s Motorola Xoom

It seems like everybody is getting an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. After T-Mobile’s update to ICS for the Samsung Galaxy S2, it’s now Verizon’s turn to update Google’s Nexus and Motorola Xoom’s to ICS with a few more to come in the summer.

The update to Ice Cream Sandwich for the Motorola Xoom starts today June 4 and improves stability and functionality of this aging yet excellent tablet.

Among the features this update will bring are customization of the new launch bar, shortcuts for frequently used apps, speech-to-text technology and a picture tool utility just to name a few.

This update for the Xoom tablet from Android 3.1 Honeycomb to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is the same one as the one available for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus. One major issue this update will resolve is the 4G LTE upgrade issue.

This update is available over the air from Verizon Wireless. The installation should take around 20-25 minutes so it’s best if you perform it through your Wi-Fi connection. More details available on the Verizon website.
