T-Mobile releases dual-screen smartphone LG DoublePlay. Perfect for SMS lovers!

T-Mobile just released a very interesting Android device, the LG DoublePlay. This device features a front 3.5-inch touchscreen under which you’ll find a QWERTY keyboard split by a 2-inch touchscreen.

Unlike the Kyocera Echo, where both screen can be used as one, the second screen will display available apps and can be used to chat or check your Facebook account for example. Now that’s multitasking! Browsing and chatting at the same time!

The LG DoublePlay is powered by a 1GHz single-core processor with a data storage capacity expandable up to 32GB. This 4G phone uses T-Mobile HSPA+ network and can be used as a hotspot device for up to 5 devices. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is the current operating system running on this phone.

The LG DoublePlay also features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera that can record 720p HD videos. Note that there is no front-facing camera available on the DoublePlay. At a price tag of only $99 on a two-year contract with T-Mobile, you can’t expect to have it all!

Seems to be a great phone for SMS lovers, but in terms of dual-screen functionalities, I’ll still wait for the Imerj smartphone. Best upcoming dual-screen phone for now I believe.
