Motorola finally released an update to its Xoom tablet available last week for Verizon Wireless.
The update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb will take place over the air or manually and should take 10 to 15 minutes. The update is referred as firmware update HTJ85 and requires about 15.4 Mbytes of space.
One of the main but basic feature this update will bring is the ability for Xoom users to use the SD card for storage. One restriction thought, the SD card in the tablet will only work as a read-only device. You can’t store aything on it from your tablet onto it. To use it, load the SD card on your laptop and then transfer the card to your Motorola Xoom tablet. Not very convenient but that’s how it is for now until they resolve it.
Aside from this, the update will enable the following features,
– Adaptive Streaming Support for Movies
– Movie Rental Improvements
– Screen Scaling Compatibility Mode
– SD Card Support
We can agree that the SD card issue is one of the most important update in this package, hopefully they’ll make it fully functional soon. Some users have reported that by rooting your Xoom tablet, all these issues with the SD card problems, are just a thing of the past.
Have you rooted your Motorola Xoom? Let us know how it goes!
