Hack to use Android device to unlock and start car

Some interesting hacks or rather scary hack came out of the Black Hat Security Conference in Las Vegas. Two Security researchers were able to unlock a SUbaru car and even start the car with an Android phone.

The hack which is based on war texting, consists of creating a local GSM network and intercept signals sent out from cars to remote controls. Researchers did not specify the exact details of the hack, but did mention that this hack is repeatable on other cars using the same cell-based system also found on GM, BMW and Mercedes cars. Not only that, other systems such as light traffic signals are also vulnerable to this hack.

Scary what we can do nowadays with a little smartphone in our pocket.
