Twentieth Century Fox Film coming to an Android device near you.

Ever wanted to watch a good uninterrupted movie on your Android smartphone or tablet? Imagine playing a movie on your Samsung Galaxy S2. Well thanks to Twentieth Century Fox Film, now you can.

First step, you’ll have to buy a Blu-Ray copy of the movie you want to watch. The first movie available on Android will be X-Men: First Class. Hence the service will only be available in October this year, date when the X-Men movie is to be released.

With your Blu-Ray copy handy, you can now download to your Windows or Apple computer an Android compatible version of the movie you want to watch. Only then, can you watch your movie on your Android device after side-loading it on to your smartphone or tablet.

Sounds like a lot of work? Actually it is, for the non tech-savvy people, that’s a bit overwhelming I find. Unfortunately for now, that’s how they’ll work.

At least, there’s a bit of competition with Apple’s services and even with Netflix. Competition is always good for consumers, they drive prices down and companies try to outdo each other technically. Personally I am not a big fan of watching movies on a 4.3-inch screen, but on a tablet that’s different.

So we’ll have to wait this fall and see what Twentieth Century Fox Film have in reserve for us. For now, the X-Men First Class movie will be available in the US, France, Germany and UK.
