Last November, Comcast released the Xfinity TV app for Apple devices such as Iphone and Ipad. The free app has been downloaded about 1.3 million times since then on Apple’s devices.
Today Comcast is releasing the Xfinity TV app for Android devices running OS 2.1 and up. The only difference there is at the moment between the two apps, is the unability of the Android app to stream on demand content over Wi-Fi; function that should be implemented later this year.
Over than that, the free app for Comcast subscribers, can be used as a TV guide and channel changer just like a controller and to program DVRs.
Comcast plans to turn customers smartphones and tablets into an additional TV screen later this year by enabling TV streaming at home. Now that’s awesome technology.
