The new HTC handset – Droid Eris has just been launched on Verizon’s communication network at the very competitive price of $199 with a one year contract and $100 mail-in rebate. Designed to compete against the iPhone, the Droid Eris features a 3.2 inch touch screen, virtual keyboard, a 5 megapixel camera, 8GB microSD card (expandable to 16GB), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, built in GPS, full HTML browser, access to gmail as well as Office Outlook Mobile support and document editing.
Only time will tell if this Android based handset can shake up the iPhone marketshare, one thing is sure, Android’s handsets are gaining in popularity very rapidly.
